Nokia 6290

Nokia has unveiled the Nokia 6290, a versatile 3G smartphone based on the smartphone software S60 on Symbian OS. The Nokia 6290 is a modern smartphone with a classic, ergonomic design at an accessible price point.

The Nokia 6290 is a 3G Smartphone which comes with a Symbian operating system with S60 version 3.1 software. The handset comes with an easy to open clamshell design opening mechani s m & provides the user with dual screens. The external screen is 1.36 Inches in size & comes with a 262k colour display. The external screen has a screen resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. The internal screen is larger at 2.2 Inches in size with a beautiful 16 million colour display with a screen resolution of 320 x 240 pixels which provides the user with a clear & precise display.

The Nokia 6290 is a portable multimedia computer supporting EGSM 850/900/1800/1900 and WCDMA 2100. Use the Nokia 6290 to take photos with the 2 megapixel camera and enjoy videos, music and graphics with crystal clarity on the 2.2” QVGA (240 x 320 pixels), 16M color main display. Listen to music with enhanced “3D stereo” using the built-in stereo speakers. Additional Nokia 6290 features include USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, Infrared, and MicroSD memory card support.

The Nokia 6290 is Nokia's first mid-range smartphone to offer S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1. Announced at the Symbian Smartphone Show in October, S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 opens up a world of possibilities, highlighted by an enhanced single browser that supports both full Web and mobile optimized content. There is also available a wide variety of add-on applications that can turn the phone into a highly personalized, versatile device. The applications range from games and entertainment to powerful business and navigation applications. The Nokia 6290 phone has a talk-time of up to 3.5 hours and a standby battery time of up to 10 days.

The 6290 comes with a built in music player which provides stereo quality sound for the user to enjoy their favourite styles of music when they are out & about. The music player supports music in MP3, MP4 & eAAC+ format. The phone comes with 3D stereo speakers which provide the user with clear high quality sound. The Nokia 6290 comes complete with a Nokia headset which allows the user to enjoy a personal & private listening experience. The built in FM stereo radio comes with a visual radio feature which provides the user with text information which is provided by the radio station & keeps the user informed at all times. The visual radio feature provides information on the music playing, the name of the group or artist, the name of the track & general news updates. The user can add & change ringing tones to suit their style & mood which can be played in either MP3, ACC, True Tones, MIDI or polyphonic sound.

The Nokia 6290's mobile search application ensures the leading search engines and location-specific services are only the touch of a button away. Nokia 6151

The Nokia 6151 is a 3G phone that looks very similar to the Nokia 6233. It's a classic straight design with a functional keypad and 5-way navigation key.

The Nokia 6151 is an attractive 3G camera phone which comes in a black coloured casing with subtle chrome edging which surrounds the phones screen & keypad. The phone has a large keypad which is user friendly & a clear screen which provides a 262k colour display with a screen resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. The handset is a classic design & measures 108 x 47 x 19 mm with a total weigh of 98 grams. The Nokia 6151 is a pleasure to use & a joy to look at. The Nokia 6131 & Nokia 6136 are mobile phones with flip open mechanism but they both have a similar elegant design concept as the Nokia 6151. The 6151 comes with 30 Mbytes of built in memory & with an expansion slot which can expand the phones memory to up to 2 Gbytes. The user can use the MicroSD™ memory cards to expand the memory & the cards can be swapped without the user having to turn off the phone.

Despite being a 3G phone, the 6151 has a rather lacklustre specification. Although the phone has a video camera, it's rear mounted, making video calling impossible - a major design faux pas for a 3G phone. The camera itself is really nothing special, at just 1.3 megapixels, no flash, and dodgy quality. The 6151 does have a good MP3 player and FM radio, but with no memory card included in the sales package, you'll have to fork out some more money if you want enough memory to store more than a few songs.

The Nokia 6151 comes with the latest messaging services which include text messaging (SMS), multimedia messaging (MMS), instant messaging & audio messaging. The instant messaging service allows the user to have an online conversation with other contacts whom are online at the same time as the user. The user can send a message to any compatible instant message contact in an instant. The Nokia Xpress audio messaging allows the user to send & receive messaging using audio input which is a fast an effective way to express the users feelings in audio. The user can send & receive MMS messages on their phone & enjoy sending & receiving messages which contain pictures, video, sound & text. The MMS message can be sent to any MMS compatible mobile phone user.
