With its Nokia 6500 classic, Nokia has produced an unashamedly elegant handset that's a mere 9.5mm thin but which packs in 1GB of internal memory and has 3G connectivity.

At just 9.5mm thin, the 6500 Classic is a joy to hold in your hand. Available in black or bronze finishes, the aluminium casing feels strong and well built. The etched silver display and keypad surrounds adds a touch of class. Our only real complaint with the design is the keypad and controls -- they are quite small and feel somewhat squashed, making messaging and general use a little frustrating at times.

The 6500 Classic comes with a unique configuration of dual-band WCDMA support on top of its more conventional quad-band GSM/EDGE support. This candy bar handset supports the normal 2100MHz band used in Europe and much of the rest of the world, as well as one of the two North American UMTS bands: 850MHz. This means that the 6500 Classic should be able to get EDGE data on any GSM network, and manage 3G UMTS connections in most parts of the world, where available, as well. It doesn't have tri-band UMTS support, which would have been great, but this is certainly a step in the right direction.

While the 3.2-megapixel camera is one of the Nokia 6500 Slide's key features, the Classic houses a more modest two-megapixel camera. There's no autofocus and, while the Classic does have an LED flash, we found the camera struggled to capture shots taken in darker surroundings. By pushing the top of the D-pad, you can access the camera without having to go through the menu. Despite being 3G, there is no video calling function. However, video footage can be recorded, with the maximum time length being just under 16 minutes. Video clips (depending on size) can be sent as attachments via text, MMS or email, as can images, sound clips, calendar notes and business cards. All of these options are laid out in a simple "insert" interface at the bottom of the screen when typing a text or email.

Despite the phone boasting 3G capabilities, we found that browsing the internet was somewhat sluggish. What's more, the phone's screen struggles with the content of some web pages meaning you have to scroll down and across, proving to be both tedious and time consuming. Changing the settings of the font size to small can help combat this. There's nothing wrong with the screen itself. In fact with a 16.7 million colour display, the two-inch screen is both vivid and sprightly. What's more the Series 40 user interface the Classic operates on only enhances the reputation Nokia has earned as producing some of the most user-friendly handsets.

Although the 1GB of internal memory is generous and should be enough for the average user, the lack of a memory card slot is the 6500 Classic's biggest issue. With a decent camera, music player and video recorder, excess multimedia use will quickly fill up the devices memory. Another annoyance is the unified microUSB port -- although it's great to see Nokia aiming for a standard port across its range, one port for charging, listening to music and synchronisation means users aren't able to listen to music and charge the phone at the same time, as an example.

A music player featuring a new look is included, but most features are the same. The interface is easy to use though a nd settings include shuffle and repeat play modes, stereo widening, preset and adjustable equaliser settings and the ability to "skin" the player with various themes. Sadly, the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack is a real let down, though the inclusion of A2DP Stereo Bluetooth is a handy alternative to the included headphones.

Other features include a voice recorder and Java games, as well as the standard suite of PIM functions consisting of alarm, calendar, to-do list, notes, calculator, stopwatch and a countdown timer.

According to Nokia figures, battery life is rated at up to 3.5 hours of talk time and up to nine days of standby time on a 3G network. These figures rise to 5.5 hours talk time and 12.5 days standby time on a sta ndard GSM network.

The slimline Nokia 6500 Classic looks and feels great. For storage of music and multimedia, the 1GB of internal memory is generous, but there's no slot for an expandable memory card. Finding yourself around the array of features is a doddle and, while the 3G capabilities weren't electric, it's a welcome addition, nonetheless. As a mid-tier 3G phone that looks the business, the Nokia 6500 Classic is true to its name.

The Nokia 6121 classic, a fast and versatile smartphone in a compact design, supports quadband GSM and WCDMA 900/2100 technology. With a 2-megapixel camera and 4X- digital zoom, flash and panorama mode, taking high-quality photos is fast and easy. Additionally, the Nokia 6121 classic also features a second camera in the front that adds a personal touch to calls by making use of the video call feature.

The candy-bar format 6121 has a large 16.7 million colour TFT LCD with 320 x 240 pixel resolution. Just above the display is an additional camera (CIF+) dedicated to video calling.

Nokia's new low-cost 3500 Classic, launched today, offers modern day looks in a familiar, easy to use candy bar shape. The 3500 Classic will be available in a number of color schemes, each with color coordinated keypads and a metal frame that runs around the edge of the phone.

The Nokia 3500 classic is just that a "Classic". The quad band GSM 3500 remains true to Nokia traditions of making lightweight simple to use bar style phones that appeal to the mass market. Key features include a 2.0 megapixel camera with 8x zoom, audio and video playback, stereo Bluetooth, and an expandable memory card slot (up to 2GB).

Nokia 6300 is the new Nokia star in the Series 40 3rd Edition line. It attacks with conservative design, miniUSB, and a slim body with steel plates.

Unlike other slim handsets, the Nokia 6300 is perfectly weighted and is surprisingly comfortable to hold. The smooth brushed aluminum look of the 6300 gives it a distinct feel of class and style. Our review unit feels solid, but there were plenty of scratches all over from previous reviewers. The glossy black areas around the top half of the handset are fingerprint magnets and very prone to scratches. Apart from that, build quality is top-notch.

On the front, the right and left soft keys and call and end keys are positioned around the 5-way navigation d-pad. The numeric keypad is located just below the d-pad on a thinner portion of the phone. Unlike the body of the 6300, the keys feel as though they are made out of cheap plastic. Fortunately, they are quite comfortable to use and provide excellent tactile feedback. The blue backlight of the keypad is bright and well distributed.

The sides of the 6300 are pretty bare, as the general design of the phone is quite simple and clean. The right side of the phone houses the volume keys and the left side has no buttons at all. Both sides have a blue indicator light that lights up every time a call comes in or an SMS is received. The back of the phone has only the loudspeaker and camera lens. The power button is located on the top of the phone. Nokia has done away with the Pop-port connector and now favors a miniUSB port instead. The 2.5mm jack and charging port are also located on the bottom of the phone.

Overall, the 6300 is a good-looking phone with a minimalist design. Measuring 106.4mm x 43.6mm x 13.1mm (4.19" x 1.72" x 0.51") and weighing only 91g (3.2oz), the Nokia 6300 has attracted the attention of many of my colleagues and friends. One of them even insisting that this is the phone he would upgrade to if he was looking for one. Design-wise, Nokia has done a very good job with the 6300.

The user can enjoy the freedom to change their ringing tones to suit their mood which can be heard in 64 voice polyphonic sound, MP3, MIDI & true tone ringing tones. The phone comes with a video ringing tone feature which allows the user to view images as well as listen to their ringing tones. The built in music player provides a fun entertainment feature which allows the user to listen to their music when ever they desire. The user can play music in MP3, MP4, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, H263 & H264 formats. The user may need a change from their stored music & can therefore use the built in FM radio feature complete with visual radio which provides the user with music, chat show & news stations on their Nokia 6300.

The Nokia 6300 comes with simple to use messaging services which include instant messaging, audio messaging, multimedia messaging, text messaging & emails with attachments. The user can access their messaging services from the main menu & create messages with ease. The choice of messaging services will suit all users needs which can be sent & received to any compatible message service contact. The multimedia messaging service provides the user with a message which can contain text with video or photo & enhanced with sound, all in one easy to create message.

The mobile phone comes with a push to talk call feature which allows the user to have a call with other contacts by using a push to talk key to talk to others & then on releasing the key the user can hear their contacts talking back. The Nokia 6300 comes with a handsfree speaker feature which allows the user to take a call over the speaker system which leaves the user handsfree to get on with their work.

The built in phone book contains all the users contact details & the user can store up to one thousand contacts in the phone book. The 6300 has a organiser which comes complete with a calendar facility. The user can enjoy lively games with the preloaded Java™ games or download more games to suit their gaming requirements. The user can switch their phone to flight mode which allows the user to access certain phone features which will not affect equipment when in restricted areas such as in a hospital or on a flight.

The Nokia 6555 will be available in four colours: black, red, sand gold and silver, and as you can see from the photographs the external display is an analogue clock by default which gives the 6555 a rather distinctive appearance.

It looks like an expensive phone, but in fact it's a fairly inexpensive midrange 3G device. Priced at around €200 / £140 / $280 before tax and subsidy, the Nokia 6555 comes with a basic 1.3 megapixel camera, a pretty standard 240x320 pixel display in 16 million colours, Bluetooth and microSD expandable memory. It's pretty lightweight for a 3G phone at 97 grams, and the Nokia 6555 is also quite narrow (just like the KRZR, in fact). Of course, the 6555 also has a multimedia player and the usual range of software you'd expect from a Series 40 device.

The Nokia 6555 meets the desire for aesthetic appeal with an external analog clock echoing the timeless elegance of high-end luxury. The Nokia 6555 is the first WCDMA phone with a smooth-back fold design with recessed hinge creating a seamless line when open. The phone's gentle curve ensures a smooth and ergonomic user experience. The Nokia 6555 is an accessible option for discerning consumers.

This new device offers a range of easy-to-use features and is designed for the mid-range market, the industry's broadest audience. This new mobile phone is expected to begin shipping in the third quarter 2007. With dedicated media keys and multimedia applications, the colorful Nokia 6267 places a premium on keeping it simple, so that listening to music, watching videos and sorting through photos is a breeze. The Nokia 6267 includes an enhanced music player and dedicated keys to make listening to music uncomplicated.

The 6267’s highlight features include microSD memory card support up to 4GB, Bluetooth, push e-mail support, a 2mpx digital camera, and an FM stereo radio.

The clam-shell handset will be offered in four colour variations: black, orange, lavender, and electric blue. The front of the 6267 houses the 2mpx camera lens, LED flash, external LCD, and two dedicated media functionality keys. The external LCD can display up to 262,144 colours within its 128 x 160 pixels.

Opening the 6267 up will reveal the 240 x 320 pixel TFT LCD, which can display up to 16.7 million colours. Just above the display is a dedicated camera for video calling over 3G networks. On the subject of cameras, the external 2mpx camera can capture images up to 1600 x 1200 pixels, and record video in 3GPP format at 640 x 320 pixels. There’s also a flash and 8x digital zoom.The 6267 has a media player with support for MP3, MP4, AAC, eAAC+, and Windows Media Audio (WMA). The keys on the front of the handset can be used to quickly change, pause, or play tracks stored on the handset. Files can be stored on the internal memory or on a microSD memory card. The 6267 is compatible with microSD memory cards up to 4GB.

For transferring files to and from the 6267 Nokia have provided Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The Bluetooth specification includes the stereo audio profile, A2DP, for high quality wireless audio playback.

The phone has a classy, business look, although a highly traditional one that has been covered in dust over the years. It's surprising when it comes to connectivity and data transfers, as it packs most types of technology in this field. Few might take their time to discover this, as the phone's large sizes take it out of the race from the beginning. It's a shame, as Nokia 6267 qualifies as one of the most evolved handsets from the middle range class.

Although compatible with the 850MHz 3G band, the 6267 does not support HSDPA – only WCDMA data. The 2100MHz 3G band is also supported, and there is fallback compatibility with GSM 850, 900, 1800, and 1900MHz bands. GPRS and EDGE data protocols are supported on 2G networks. There’s also an integrated xHTML browser for accessing online content.

The Nokia 6151 is an attractive 3G camera phone which comes in a black coloured casing with subtle chrome edging which surrounds the phones screen & keypad. The phone has a large keypad which is user friendly & a clear screen which provides a 262k colour display with a screen resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. The handset is a classic design & measures 108 x 47 x 19 mm with a total weigh of 98 grams. The Nokia 6151 is a pleasure to use & a joy to look at. The Nokia 6131 & Nokia 6136 are mobile phones with flip open mechanism but they both have a similar elegant design concept as the Nokia 6151. The 6151 comes with 30 Mbytes of built in memory & with an expansion slot which can expand the phones memory to up to 2 Gbytes. The user can use the MicroSD™ memory cards to expand the memory & the cards can be swapped without the user having to turn off the phone.

Despite being a 3G phone, the 6151 has a rather lacklustre specification. Although the phone has a video camera, it's rear mounted, making video calling impossible - a major design faux pas for a 3G phone. The camera itself is really nothing special, at just 1.3 megapixels, no flash, and dodgy quality. The 6151 does have a good MP3 player and FM radio, but with no memory card included in the sales package, you'll have to fork out some more money if you want enough memory to store more than a few songs.

The Nokia 6151 comes with the latest messaging services which include text messaging (SMS), multimedia messaging (MMS), instant messaging & audio messaging.
